First Ever Unsolved Homicide Summit Huge Success

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department hosted L.A.'s first ever Unsolved Homicide Summit Saturday, July 20, 2013.  The event was sponsored by Justice for Homicide Victims and Justice For Murdered Children and they lined the Sheriff's media room with pictures of homicide victims.  The Honorable Judge Michael Latin moderated a panel discussion of deputy district attorney's, DNA experts, law enforcement, FBI Special Agent, Media personnel and others.  Families of members were able to ask questions on such topics as DNA, race relations, rewards, poor vs. rich.  Attendees were told that a case is never closed.  "You never know what evidence was collected back in the day that's useful now." said Sgt. Delores Scott of the L.A. County Sheriff's Unsolved Homicide Bureau.   Attendees were told that LAPD is compiling a list of unsolved homicides that they are going to put on Facebook.  The new LAPD page should be available within the next couple of months.  It was a powerful meeting, most attendees were expected and left with phone number of those who promised assistance.
